Social media: the vessel that gives us Kimmy K’s naked selfies, Kanye West’s twitter rants, Amy Schumer’s quick wit and a wide variety of fascinating content from all the celebrities you love (even if you won’t actually admit it).
Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and comparatively new kid on the block, Snapchat, all give celebrities the chance to endorse their personal brand and engage with their hordes of followers. But which of our favourite celebs do it best?
Did someone say #oscarselfie? The queen of daytime television made headlines and broke records with her selfie taken while hosting the 86th Academy Awards Ceremony in 2014. Yeah, that one with all of the famous people in it – Brad Pitt, Meryl Streep, Kevin Spacey, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lawrence and a whole host of famous people were featured, gaining over 3.3 million retweets to make it the most retweeted picture of all time.
It’s hard to deliver a witty comment in 140 characters, but Anna Kendrick of Pitch Perfect fame has got the art down to a t. T for Twitter, that is. She is relatable, funny, and not afraid to talk about important topics such as Oreos, hangovers, and what it means to be a ‘real’ adult. Anna is so good, that Buzzfeed has not only dedicated one, but two listicles to her brilliance.
This guy wrote a little book called The Fault in Our Stars – that one that topped The New York Times Best Seller list for seven consecutive weeks before being turned into a major blockbuster movie (cue all the crying). What many people don’t know is that John also has a number of very successful YouTube channels in collaboration with his brother Hank. Together they have what can only be described as an online multimedia empire: over 15 channels including Vlogbrothers, Crash Course, Hankgames and The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. Through the success of his AFC Wimbly Womblys series, John’s online efforts have even seen him provide much-needed support to an English professional football team.
How could we create this list without mentioning at least one Kardashian? Kylie Jenner is the undisputed queen of Snapchat and reigns as the most-viewed account on the social media platform. Kylie posts multiple times a day to her story, giving fans a glimpse into her everyday life – whether it’s a red carpet event, hanging out with friends or playing with her puppies. Expect lots of pouting and appearances by her famous family members.
Even if you’re not Keeping Up With the Kardashians, you should (at least think about) including these celebs in your news feed.
